Three farms. More than 100 hives. One Northumberland landscape.

The ‘3’ in 3Farm isn’t branding invented in a meeting. It’s where our honey begins.

We manage more than 100 honeybee colonies across three Northumberland farms. Each apiary sits within its own patch of countryside, surrounded by a changing mixture of fields, hedgerows, trees, gardens and wild flowers.

We deliberately don’t publish the precise locations of our hives. The bees deserve a little privacy — and so do the farms. What matters is that our honey has a genuine connection to the Northumberland landscape around those apiaries.

Why doesn’t every jar taste exactly the same?

Because the bees haven’t read the recipe.

Honey is made from the nectar available to a colony. Different plants flower at different times, weather changes what the bees can forage, and the landscape around each apiary is different. That means the colour, aroma and flavour of real honey can naturally vary between places, seasons and harvests.

Different forage. Different weather. Different season. That’s part of the point.

From apiary to jar

Dave and Steven manage the colonies, harvest the honey and jar it ourselves. Keeping that chain short means we know where the honey came from and the story behind each harvest.

It’s also why we’re rather fond of the phrase single apiary honey: honey whose identity comes from one apiary and the landscape and season around it, rather than being blended into anonymity.

For us, provenance isn’t a marketing extra. It’s the interesting bit.
