A hobby that got slightly out of control.

We’re Dave & Steven — beekeepers, climbing enthusiasts and the people behind 3Farm Honey.

What started with a fascination for bees became a few hives. Then quite a few hives. Today, we look after more than 100 colonies across three Northumberland farms.

Meet the beekeepers

3Farm Honey is run by Dave and Steven: two climbers who started keeping bees and then, somewhere along the way, discovered that a few hives can become more than 100 surprisingly quickly.

Steven

Beekeeper, climber and one half of 3Farm Honey. Part of the small team managing our colonies across three Northumberland farms and turning what the bees produce into the honey we sell.

ALINA

Beekeeper

Alina is in her second year as a beekeeper. She’s already developed real expertise in managing colonies and holds the incredible record of never being stung, despite hundreds of hours with the bees!

Why 3Farm?

The clue is in the name. Our apiaries are spread across three Northumberland farms, giving our bees access to the changing flowers, trees, hedgerows and countryside around them.

Honey is a crop of a place and a season. What the bees find changes through the year, and so does the honey. We think that’s one of the best things about it. Explore our Northumberland apiaries and provenance.

Different farms. Different forage. Different seasons. Real honey.

More bees in the air

Our ambition is wonderfully simple: put millions more bees into the air every summer.

Beekeeping means working with the weather, the landscape and several million tiny creatures that have absolutely no interest in your plans for the day. That’s part of why we love it.

We manage the bees ourselves, harvest the crop and jar the honey. The result is a genuinely local Northumberland product with a clear connection to the people and countryside behind it.

From hive to jar

There’s no anonymous supply chain hiding behind 3Farm Honey. The bees are ours. The hives are ours. We harvest and jar the honey ourselves.

And yes, somewhere along the way two climbers discovered that keeping bees can become every bit as obsessive as climbing.
